Projection of Amin Wahidi’s documentary “Behind Venice Luxury – a hazara in Italy
Director Amin Wahidi’s documentary “Behind Venice Luxury – a Hazara in Italy” was selected for the Venice City Prize, which this year has reached its 24th edition and will take place during the 74th International Dinner Show, Venice Art Cinema. The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 6, at the Candiani Cultural Center in Mestre. The event will be free at the entrance, will begin at 9:00 with the presentation of the 24th edition of the Prize and in the presence of the organizer Michele Serra.
Directed by hazara director Amin Wahidi and written by journalist Basir Ahang and Nicole Valentini, “Behind Venice Luxury” was produced by Deedenow Cinema Production Afghanistan, Hazara International Network, Academy of Art and Cinematic Studies in West of Kabul and supported by Hazara Film Fund.
In 2014, Amin Wahidi’s short film “The Guest” was also awarded the City of Venice Prize.
The documentary is based on the story of Ashraf Barati, a ten-year-old hazara refugee in Italy who, despite the many difficulties encountered along the way, thanks to hard work and to a will, has managed to become a successful entrepreneur today. The documentary also traces the story and events of the Hazara people.
